Our Ditch Witch
Our Ditch Witch is the ideal
walk-along trencher for clean residential gate trenching jobs.
Have you ever wondered how electrical wires and
telephone cables are laid into the ground with minimal impact to the grounds?
Well, then it’s time to meet our Ditch Witch. It is truly a fascinating
digging machine. After the cables are laid out on the ground, a small trench
about 2-3 feet deep is dug out by hand near the gate opener control box. The
Ditch Witch is placed into position and the cables are fed through a couple of
guides above the cutting blade of the Ditch Witch. Here is how the Ditch Witch
makes it happen: First, the blade, by slicing through the soil about 2-3 feet
below the ground, separates the soil far enough to place the cables into the
gap. The following rattling motion of the Ditch Witch causes the soil to
collapse on top of the submersed cables leaving behind little visible evidence
of this cut throat action. The slow but steady forward motion of the Ditch
Witch made it possible to place the cables 2 feet below ground all the way from
the driveway gate to the control panel in a very short time.
